January 2020 | The Waters of Baptism

January 2020 | The Waters of Baptism

This month, our focus is on the waters of baptism as a sacred space. Jesus began his public ministry by submitting himself to this ancient ritual of cleansing even though he was the one who knew no sin. As he came up out of those waters, the voice of God boomed, “This is my Son in whom I am well pleased.”

What does it mean for something as ordinary and commonplace as water to be the setting of a death and rebirth? What could it mean for us as we embark on a new year?
